Concerts and theatre performances 2006

Organised by the Vranov nad Dyjí Municipality and the National Institute for the Protection and Conservation of Monuments and Sites – the Vranov nad Dyjí State Chateau Administration. Each event starts at 7.30 p.m. Entrance fee CZK 90, children below ten CZK 50. Orders and advance booking at the chateau ticket office (telephone 515 296 215) and the Vranov nad Dyjí Tourist Information Centre (telephone 515 296 285). Chamber music programmes are available only to a limited size audience. Please be aware the programme may be changed without specific notice!

Wednesday July 5

NIGHT OF CZECH MUSIC AND POETRY from the works of B. Smetana, B. Martinů, J. Skácel, O. Mikulášek. Performers: Bohumil Smejkal (violin), Vladimír Hollý (piano) and Ladislav Lakomý (recitation). Venue – Musical Salon in the chateau Vranov nad Dyjí.

Saturday July 8

INSTRUMENTAL CONCERT from the works of J. Haydn, M. Haydn, I. Pleyel and W. A. Mozart in authentic interpretation. Performers: CONCILIUM MUSICUM WIEN Paul Angerer (violin), Christoph Angerer (violin and viola d’amore) and Florian Wieninger (double bass). Venue – Musical Salon in the chateau Vranov nad Dyjí. The concert was kindly supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum Prague.

Tuesday July 25

ANTONIO CALDARA – SCIPIONE IL MAGGIORE. Renewed premiere of a baroque felicitations opera with authentic instruments. Composed and played in 1735 to celebrate the birthday of Emperor Charles VI. Performers: HOFMUSICI ČESKÝ KRUMLOV. Venue – Hall of Ancestors, chateau Vranov nad Dyjí.

Tuesday August 1

Concert of legendary singer and author of Czech folk music PAVEL ŽALMAN – LOHONKY. Venue – first courtyard of chateau Vranov nad Dyjí.

Thursday August 10

SPIRITUAL KVINTET. Concert of one of the most important bands in Czech folk music, which has been for all age groups for over 40 years. Venue – first courtyard of chateau Vranov nad Dyjí.

Friday August 11

INSTRUMENTAL CONCERT FROM THE WORKS OF 18TH CENTURY AUTHORS (W. A. Mozart, J. Haydn and P. Vranicky) AND AUSTRIAN COMPOSERS OF THE 20TH CENTURY (Peter Richter and Wolfram Wagner). Performers: IN CAMERA CARITATIS Prague: Dana Mimrová (flute), Jan Mareček (viola) and Václav Vomáčka (violoncello). Venue – Musical Hall of chateau Vranov nad Dyjí. The concert was kindly supported by the Association of Lower Austria Composers INÖK.
