CONCERT OF WINNERS OF THE SUMMER SCHOOL OF BAROQUE MUSIC (programme of the 2009 Znojmo Music Festival). Performed by Kamila Ševčíková (vocals), Matúš Trávníček (vocals), Tomáš Kardoš (Baroque violoncello) and THE CZECH ENSEMBLE BAROQUE ORCHESTRA. Wine from Písař’s Winery in Vrbovec will be tasted after the concert. Venue – the Hall of Ancestors. Starting at 7.00 p.m. Admission CZK 100/CZK 50.

PETR BENDE AND CHAMBER ACOUSTIC BAND. A recital of the famous finalist of the SuperStar competition. The singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and lyricist gained unprecedented popularity within a short time and his likeable voice is popular among audiences of all ages. ORGAN CONCERT OF BAROQUE MUSIC WITH ARTISTIC RECITATION. The programme will present the work of the famous, today unjustly marginalised Italian composer ALESSANDRO SCARLATTI confronted with the work of English playwright WILLIAM SHAKESPERE (Hamlet, Twelfth Night, sonnets). Performed by Štěpánka Heřmánková (vocals), Miroslav Laštovka (trumpet), Vladimír Roubal (organ) and one of our most remarkable artists, Alfréd Strejček (recitation). Venue – chateau chapel. Starting at 7.30 p.m. Admission CZK 120/CZK 60.

NICCOLÒ PORPORA – LA MORTE D'ERCOLE (Heracles’ Death). World re-premiere of a piece of the famous Baroque composer in a half-scenic staging. The opera, inspired by the story of Heracles from ancient Greek mythology, develops a love triangle full of plots, turns and tragic deceit. Performed by the HofMusici Baroque music ensemble from Český Krumlov led by Ondřej Macek. Directed by Zuzana Vrbová. Venue – the Hall of Ancestors. Starting at 7.30 p.m. Admission CZK 150/CZK 75.

IVAN HLAS AND HIS TRIO. A recital by one of the most talented middle-aged songsters whose poetic songs tell the story of an enjoyed life. He has entered public awareness mainly by his musical Šakalí léta (The Years of the Jackal). Venue – the first courtyard. Starting at 7.30 p.m. Admission CZK 120/CZK 60.

BALET OF THREE CENTURIES. A programme presenting scenic dances drawing from both classical and romantic history, but also postmodernist dance visions. Performed by BALET PRAHA JUNIOR – an ensemble of Taneční centrum Praha (Prague Dance Centre). Venue – the Hall of Ancestors. Starting at 7.30 p.m. Admission CZK 120/CZK 60.

Thursday, August 20

INDIA – THE ROOTS OF HUMANKIND. A recital of original Indian Bhajans and Quawwali music performed by the Ukrainian SANGAM band. Before the concert, from 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m., visitors to the chateau will have an opportunity to see an exhibition in a special tent presenting the clothing, musical instruments and other items of Indian material culture. Venue – the first courtyard. Starting at 7.30 p.m. Entrance fee CZK 50/CZK 25.
