BAROQUE OPERA UNDER THREAT!!

One of the key events of this 27th Vranov year of culture – the epic baroque opera “LA MORTE D' ERCOLE” (The Death of Hercules) – was to be cancelled. One of the large sponsors of this financially very challenging programme got into serious difficulties and withdrew from the contract three days ago. The organisers, i.e. Vranov nad Dyjí château and local authority, found themselves in a grim situation and were resigned to calling off this opera performance with a five-year tradition. However, they did manage to secure it at the last moment. Three baroque music and Vranov supporters keenly contributed, most crucially Železniční stavitelství in Brno. We give our thanks on our behalf as well as on behalf of the viewers for exceptional understanding for this important culture event!! We would like inform domestic and foreign parties again that the renewed world premier of this opera written by famous baroque composer Nicolo Porpora will take place in Althann Hall of Ancestors on Monday July 27, 2009. Start is at 7.30PM.
