VRANOV NAD DYJÍ STATE CHATEAU

OCTOBER 3 – HOUNDS, AUTUMN IN THE GARDEN, A WEDDING, AND POETRY

The active participation of the chateau in the region’s life is documented by the interesting and busy Saturday October 3. At 8:00 AM the formal courtyard saw the ceremonial opening of the 5th international bloodhound testing, which was organised by the Club of Terrier Breeders of the Czech Republic in co-operation with the National Park Podyjí. At 9:00 AM the interiors opened for the first visitor group from Slovakia. At 9:30 the nineteen members of the Friends of the Vranov Chateau group from Brno started working in the garden, cutting the brush at places with difficult access. The volunteers worked for free. Between 12:00 AM and 1:00 PM, i.e. during the lunch break, the Hall of Ancestors hosted a wedding of a Czech-American couple with a special tour of the chateau organised for the wedding guests. At 3:00 PM the guide entered the interiors with the last visitor group. One hour later we were opening the official announcement of the results of 2nd year of the national young poets’ competition, which was accompanied by the recitation of the winning verses by the theatre director Ivo Krobot – the meeting was organised by the Czech-Austrian Friends of Young Poetry Society.
