JULY 28 - SUMMER OF CULTURE AT ITS HALFWAY POINT

The summer events of the 26th “Summer of Culture in Vranov” (for more see Concerts 2008) peaked on Monday July 28, 2008 by the performance of the rediscovered opera “Argippo” by Antonio Vivaldi, which was played by the big band Hofmusici from Český Krumlov. The spectacular show lasted more than two hours. It had its premiere on May 3, 2008, in the Spanish Hall at Prague Castle, and here it was presented in the Hall of Ancestors. Over 400 people in the audience applauded the fine music and its authentic interpretation, as well as period styling of gestures and mimics of the opera characters. The second reprise will take place in the historic baroque theatre in Český Krumlov, and the third one in Venice in September.
