UNEXPECTED HOPE FOR THE FORMER STABLES

The plan of building and restoration adjustments for 2008 does not contain too many items. The financial resources we could use for this purpose are limited. However, we do not have to be disappointed either. The complicated work on the reconstruction of the roofs is nearing its end (they were damaged by the ‘Ema’ windstorm on March 1). In the summer we will launch the reconstruction of the entrance area of the chateau, which includes the forged gate with coat of arms, both the side pillars with limestone vases, as well as the adjoining walls. This is possible also thanks to the special subvention from the Regional Authority of the South Moravian Region. We are also thinking about repairing the dilapidated terrace below the southern house by the gate and if we get special funding from the Ministry of Culture, we will be able to complete the restoration of the rare screen with rococo and oriental motifs. We are also planning to prepare project documentation for the reconstruction of the former chateau stables and their conversion to a restaurant, which is really missing. It is possible that in 2009 we could get a higher sum to reconstruct this object. After the completion of the project we will be finally able to offer good catering services to all our visitors.
